How the Meadow Score works

The Meadow Score is a weighted average of published star ratings. Newer reviews count more: a review loses half its weight every 365 days. Reviews from verified customers count 1.5 times. To keep a few reviews from swinging the result, the score starts from the typical rating in the category as if it had 5 reviews, and it is shown once a business has 3 reviews. Reviews where the writer received something in return are left out or count less. Businesses cannot pay to change it.

A proper afternoon tea

Hannah Whitfield Regular

Experience in July 2026

We booked afternoon tea for a birthday. The sandwiches were fresh, the marmalade cake lived up to the name and they boxed up what we could not finish. Service was much quicker than on my first visit last year.

What went well
Thoughtful touches for the birthday
What could be better

Nice room, slow service

Gareth Lowe Regular

Experience in January 2026

The tea selection is wide and the room is bright and calm. On a quiet Tuesday it still took twenty minutes for two scones to arrive, and one order was forgotten. The scones themselves were good once they came.

What went well
Bright room and good tea
What could be better
Slow and forgetful service
